Selena Gomez met a special co-star on the shoot for the music video of her single, “Boyfriend,” and freaked out.

The 27-year-old songstress released a behind-the-scenes look at her latest music video on Tuesday (April 21), People reported. “Boyfriend,” Gomez’s most recent song release, made its debut earlier this month and is also slated to be included in her “Rare” album’s deluxe version.

The music video featured Gomez imbibing love potions, as well as going on a series of failed dates. The “I Can’t Get Enough” singer is then introduced to her most awaited co-star — a slimy toad that she will be kissing on set.

Initially, Gomez expressed her enthusiasm saying that she couldn’t wait to meet the small critter. But when the time came for the singer to get up close and personal with her amphibian co-star, Gomez lost her cool while she nervously fumbled with the toad in her palms and eventually let out a scream when the animal leaped and fell to the ground.

Although the singer was obviously still petrified, she didn’t hesitate to check if the critter was harmed. “Did I hurt her?” Gomez asked.

Then, after several more takes with her toad co-star, the “Bad Liar” singer overcame her fear and actually grew a soft spot for the amphibian. After the shoot, Gomez confidently walked around on set with her newly made friend, even saying that she'd want one for a pet.

In the “Boyfriend” music video, Gomez sings that she “wants a boyfriend” despite “hitting dead ends.” singer goes on a routine of dates, with most of them into nothing. Gomez then turns her potential suitors into frogs in her video. She also joked that she felt like she was on “The Bachelorette” while shooting her unsuccessful dating scenes.

The songstress also revealed that the scenes from her music video almost made her feel like she was really dating. “I was so engaged in what he was saying that I kept messing up the lyrics, because I was talking to him,” Gomez shared while she gets dolled up on the set.

Before she released “Boyfriend” on April 10, Gomez expressed that though her song meant otherwise, she is currently not interested with being in a relationship. The singer posted several Instagram Stories letting her fans know that having a boyfriend is the least of her priorities as of late. And though Gomez still remains single, she feels happy and content with where she stands.
