Selena Gomez, The Weeknd Split: Singer Had Doubts About Justin Bieber Relationship

Although Selena Gomez and The Weeknd’s split was a shock to most people, sources close to the stars reveal the break up was bound to happen. While the couple initially had a strong foundation, it seems like the singer’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, caused some doubts in her relationship.

Insiders told Us Weekly that The Weeknd originally “didn’t care” about her friendship with Bieber after the star reached out to the “Bad Liar” artist following her kidney transplant over the summer. However, a source revealed that the “Starboy” singer soon lost his confidence concerning the extent of the friendship. “He trusted Selena, but he really didn’t trust Justin.”

Weeks after the split, it seems like The Weeknd had good reason not to trust Bieber. Since the singer broke off his relationship with Gomez, the “Purpose” artist has been in constant contact with his ex-girlfriend, trying to win her heart. “Justin really wants Selena back,” a source close to the artist revealed.

“He’s been texting her nonstop and hangs out with her whenever he can,” the insider added.

While sources have insisted that the two are just friends, the pair shared a sweet moment during a bike ride together. “Justin was very sweet and held up Selena’s bike for her as she got on. They were having a blast together,” an eyewitness told E! News.

“Justin was singing loudly and dancing with his arms in the air while riding down a busy street. Selena was laughing so hard she had to cover her mouth and try not to fall off her bike. She clearly thinks he is hilarious.”

The onlooker explained that the two seemed to be enjoying one another’s company and even stopped to have a brief chat. “Justin was leading the way and giving the middle finger as a joke. Selena was following along and cars were stopped to watch them. They have a really good time together and seem to be able to pick up right where they left off. They got off their bikes and stopped and talked for a minute before they continued their ride back to her house.”

While there is no guarantee that Gomez and Bieber will get back together, the two seem to be spending a majority of their time together, which will most likely result in either a strong friendship or a rekindled romance.
