Selfie Shooting: Texas Teen In Stable Condition After He Accidentally Shoots Himself In The Face
A teenager in San Antonio suffered a penetrating head injury late Thursday night after a selfie gone wrong.
The 16-year-old boy was snapping photos and posing with his sister's loaded 9mm pistol during the freak accident. The bullet caused metal and glass to injure his face as well as penetrate his brain, according to KENS, a CBS affiliate in San Antonio.
The teenager shot a bullet at his phone, resulting in the metal and glass injuring his left eye. He was then rushed to University Hospital and is in stable condition.
There have been other examples of selfies with guns that ended with serious injuries or death. In July, a 16-year-old Houston girl was fatally shot while taking selfies with a gun in an apartment complex.
A 22-year-old from Florida in 2016 accidentally shot her phone and injured herself while posing with her uncle's gun on Snapchat. Also in 2016, a 43-year-old Washington state man died after he accidentally shot himself in the face while taking selfies.
A 19-year-old Houston man in 2015 accidentally shot and killed himself while taking selfies.
A Mexican man in 2014 shot himself dead while posing with a gun for a Facebook selfie.
