Sen. John McCain Caught Playing iPhone Game During Syria Senate Hearing
John McCain: Vietnam prisoner of war, Republican presidential candidate, U.S. senator... gamer? Apparently so, according to a photo snapped by Washington Post photographer Melina Mara.
Sen. McCain, R-Ariz., was spotted playing a poker game on his iPhone while attending a Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Syria. Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, testified.
McCain took to Twitter to comment on his gaffe.
If U.S. senators who are pushing 80 years of age kill time at work by playing video games, that's simply proof positive that gaming is firmly entrenched into mainstream culture. What's more, the fact that McCain was playing an iPhone game during a Senate hearing tells us that there's a place in this world for mobile gaming, whether the gaming takes place on an Android or iOS phone.
Whether a Senate hearing is the right place for gaming of any kind is a different matter.
