Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian Net Worth 2017: How Much Money Could Couple Make From Baby Pictures?

Having a baby is expensive, but that won’t be a problem for Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian. The tennis great appeared to announce her pregnancy on social media Wednesday when she posted a Snapchat of herself posing in a mirror alongside the words “20 weeks.”

Her representatives didn’t confirm the pregnancy, and the Snapchat was quickly deleted, but not before the internet went wild with speculation and congratulations.

Williams, 35, announced her engagement to Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian in December. Combined, the two are worth an estimated $154.5 million.

While Ohanian has some impressive credentials under his belt, his accomplishments and net worth pale in comparison to Williams’. The tennis superstar was worth $150 million in 2016, according to Forbes. During that year alone, she made almost $29 million, putting her among the world’s 40 highest paid athletes. Williams has been awarded more than $77 million in prize money in addition to the many millions she has made from endorsements and sponsorships. Her original five-year deal with Nike was worth $40 million and she has since signed with brands like Delta Airlines, Pepsi, IBM and an array of other companies.

Ohanian, a tech entrepreneur, investor and activist, had an estimated net worth of $4.5 million, around three percent of what Williams was worth. The majority of his wealth came from Reddit, the social news website which Ohanian founded alongside Steve Hauffman before selling it to Conde Nast.

Though the two haven’t confirmed baby rumors, should they choose to offer up pictures to the media, they could likely rake in some serious cash. Weddings and baby exclusives reap the most money among entertainment magazines and media and some of the most expensive photos obtained by magazines are of babies. In March 2008, People magazine set a record when they offered a reported $5 million for the first pictures of Jennifer Lopez and then-husband Marc Anthony with their newborn twins, the New York Times reported at the time.

Other baby and pregnancy pictures haven’t gone for millions, but were still some of the top sellers. The first photos of a pregnant Angelina Jolie went for $500,000 in 2006, while the first picture of Britney Spears’ baby boy went for the same amount in 2005.
