An activist who was once known for his staunch stand to end sexual violence, may find himself behind bars for the rest of his life after pleading guilty to child pornography and having sex with a minor.
24-year-old Joel Davis plead guilty to one count of enticement of a minor under the age of 18 to engage in sexual activity, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Southern District of New York.
Davis, a New York, New York resident, admitted on meeting and having sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy, said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman.
Davis also possessed child porn that included minors under the age of 12.
“Davis rightly faces a lengthy prison sentence for victimizing children,” added Berman.
The press release also exposed Davis' transaction that pointed on the suspect using his cellphone to “arrange a meeting to engage in sexual activity” with a minor in or about June 2018.
It further noted that between or at least in or about May 2018 and June 2018, Davis possessed images and videos of child pornography and at the same time, received and distributed the said material using his cellphone.
He could face a maximum of life in prison for having sex with minor, said Fox News.
Davis initiated the international group, Youth to End Sexual Violence, and once said in a Columbia Daily Spectator article that he had been a victim of sexual abuse when he was a child, the outlet added.
