Shailene Woodley Says 'Grief Is Praise' After Breaking Up With Aaron Rodgers Again
Shailene Woodley is going through a great deal of "grief" after breaking up with Aaron Rodgers for a second time.
The 30-year-old reportedly shared a quote about loss, by author Martín Prechtel, on her Instagram Story on Thursday.
"Grief expressed out loud for someone we have lost, or a country or home we have lost, is in itself the greatest praise we could ever give them. Grief is praise, because it is the natural way love honors what it misses," it read. "Seeing grief in this way helps us respect what we are going through, rather than being mired in shame and discouragement on top of the pain we already feel."
In another slide on her Story, the "Big Little Lies" star re-shared a post from some other Instagram accounts that read, "Like plants, we grow when buried in the darkness." It is a quote from author Christine Caine, People reported.
"Sometimes when you're in a dark place you think you've been buried, but you've actually been planted," the caption read.
Woodley and the NFL quarterback ended their engagement in February, just about a year after going public about it. However, they have been spotted together on multiple occasions since then, with their most recent appearance being in March at a California winery. The dup was reportedly being "very affectionate" with each other at the time.
When they first split, a source told People that it was "amicable," explaining that their relationship "just wasn't working."
"They're very different people with busy careers and there were obstacles that they couldn't surmount. They will remain friendly; there's no bad blood and no drama. It just didn't work out for them," the source added.
However, another source shared that Rodgers was hoping they'd reconcile.
"They both had intense work schedules in the fall and it wasn't possible for them to focus on their relationship. Now when Aaron's season is over, he wants to give it another try. He thinks Shailene is very special. She is more hesitant though," the source reportedly said.
But it seems like the reconciliation didn't happen.
"Shailene felt everything was on Aaron's terms and it wasn't making her happy," an insider told People.
