Shamrocking: The New St. Patrick's Day Meme With McDonald's Shamrock Shake

In the days leading up to St. Patrick's Day, don't be alarmed if you see someone Shamrocking.

Yes, a new meme has arrived in advance of the day traditionally celebrated with green beer, fun times at the pub and that delicious Shamrock Shake from McDonald's.

As first pointed out by the folks at Buzzfeed (with a McDonald's post), Shamrocking is simply doing a little Irish jig while enjoying a Shamrock Shake.

Over on Twitter, #Shamrocking has been taking over newsfeeds, with people posting photos and musings of the new (office friendly) phenomenon.

Fellow New Yorkers hoping to score a Shamrock Shake or two don't have to worry about the fiasco from five years ago, when no shakes were available in the city.

We are happy to announce that Shamrock Shakes, which are served in a clear cup with whipped cream and a cherry on top, are now available in all New York area McDonald's while supplies last, a McDonald's spokesperson told the New York Daily News last week.
