A Central Florida radio talk show host was arrested in Seminole County for allegedly shooting his wife and her dog in what he calls an accident.

Shannon Burke, 43, host of the Shannon Burke Show on WTKS, was arguing with his wife over the care of his dog around 11pm on Thursday at a home at 135 Hilltop Place in Altamonte Springs.

During the argument, Burke grabbed his wife’s dog and threatened to harm their pet.

According to police officials, Burke shot the dog in the leg with a .40 caliber handgun, and the bullet passed through the pet before striking his wife in the head, 48-year-old Catherine Burke.

Burke has been charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, and animal cruelty.
