Shark Week 2017 Schedule: Wednesday Lineup Revealed
Shark Week is halfway over, but there is still plenty of great programming left. Discovery Channel will kick off Wednesday night with a “Sharkopedia Edition” of a special before diving into two all-new programs. With titles like “The Lost Cage” and “Devil Sharks,” it sounds like fans are in for a heart racing night. The Shark Week after show will wrap up the night with some special guests that Discovery fans might recognize.
8 p.m. EDT — “The Great Hammerhead Invasion: Sharkopedia Edition”
This Sharkopedia edition of this Shark Week special will give audiences even more fun facts. After giant hammerhead sharks arrive in the Bahamas in early November, shark scientist Tristan Guttridge tags and follows them. The scientist will discover that many of these typically solitary sharks appear to be pregnant females. Guttridge will watch as they spend winter in Bimini to feed their fetuses and then move on to the Florida coast to prey on migrating blacktips. This program is produced by Icon Films.

9 p.m. EDT — “The Lost Cage”
A team of explorers will enter a one-of-a-kind shark cage off the Gulf of Mexico in hopes that they’ll be human lures. They want to attract the ocean’s deadliest shark, and they’re going 500 miles off the coast to do it in this Shark Week program, produced by Gurney Entertainment.
10 p.m. EDT — “Devil Sharks”
Apparently, the finned fish have been congregating around volcanoes and volcanic islands for centuries, and Dr. Mike Heithaus wants to know why. Of course, he’ll have to do some field research to get answers to his questions. He is going to dive in several volcanoes to learn more about what attracts sharks to them.
11 p.m. EDT— “Shark After Dark”
The official Shark Week after show, hosted by director Eli Roth, continues Wednesday night with several guests. Musician Moby will appear with “Naked and Afraid” fan favorites Cory Williams and Anastasia Ashley to play a game called Fin’s Up! Filmmaker Devon Massyn will also appear to discuss “The Lost Cage” and the true challenges that come with filming sharks.

Shark Week celebrations don’t have to take place in front of the TV. Discovery has teamed up with tons of brands to promote the programming block, and Cold Stone Creamery is one of those companies. Sugar enthusiasts can head to the ice cream shop for Shark Week-themed goodies.
Cold Stone is offering a treat called the Great White Bite. The dessert includes sea salt sweet cream ice cream with strawberries, graham cracker piecrust and blue gummy sharks. Those who prefer cupcakes can enjoy the Deep Sea Delight. The sweet has a chocolate cup filled with a layer of devil’s food cake and a strawberry puree mid-layer. Above that layer is sea salt sweet cream ice cream topped with blue frosting, graham cracker piecrust, a blue gummy shark and a chocolate Shark Week medallion. Check with your local Cold Stone Creamery to see if they have the Shark Week treats available.
