Sharp to raise LCD panel production to meet increasing demand
Sharp Corp decided to increase LCD panel production after facing continuous high demands of it LCD panels for TVs.
Sharp will increase the production of LCD panel at its Kameyama Plant No. 2 factory in western Japan by approximately 10 percent. The firm has decided to improve production efficiency of 90,000 glass substrates per month to 100,000 substrates after August.
According to Sharp, Kameyama Plant No. 2 started operations in 2006 producing advanced LCD panels and began full-scale operation in April this year and that it would bring the new LCD panel plant at the Sakai Manufacturing Complex into operation in October 2009 also this year.
An increasing demand has continued to rise since Sharp expand the Kameyama plant production and will continue to advance its proprietary production technologies as a model plant under Sharp’s vertical integration production concept, the company said.
