Sheepshead Bay shooting killed two, wounded one, no arrests yet
Early Sunday morning, around 5 a.m., a triple shooting awoke the neighborhood of a courtyard at the Sheepshead Bay Houses on Avenue W near Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn.
The gunfire killed Crystal Sweet, 22, and her boyfriend Timothy Walters, 29. Walter's brother Cornelius, 30, was also shot and was rushed Kings County Hospital where he was in critical condition early Sunday afternoon, according to police.
Sweet and Walter went out for Saturday night, according to family members.
Witnesses heard a barrage of gunshots, six or seven and relatives rushed to the scene, following the screaming voices Crystal is dead, Crystal is dead! Josephine Rodriguez, Sweet's mother, was awakened by the terrible screams.
Somebody run up on them and shot all three of them. That's all I know. My nephew got shot multiple times, said Patricia McCall, Walters' aunt.
Police responded to the courtyard off Nostrand Ave. in Sheepshead Bay, but by their arrival, Sweet and Walters were dead.
Josephine recalled the scene saying, I never really thought this would happen. Regarding her daughter, Rodriguez said she was an awesome, great mother, always wearing a smile on her face. She did not think her daughter had any enemy.
The neighboring residents said to the media that violence and shooting were not rare around the area. Violence and drug activities take place frequently, and are getting worse.
Police was still trying to determine a motive for the attack, and by Sunday evening no arrests had been made and investigators are still sorting out the circumstances.
