Shibarium, the layer-2 solution of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, is one of the highly anticipated projects of the community. Pseudonymous lead developer Shytoshi Kusama recently updated the Shib Army about the planned Q3 2022 release window for Shibarium.
Kusama was at the official Shiba Inu Discord server a few days ago, where they dropped more details about the upcoming Collectible Card Game (CCG) "Shiba Eternity" and entertained some questions from SHIB holders. One of the questions raised was, "Because we [are] already in Q4 and you guys [are] saying Q3 so what's going on?"
The SHIB holder is most likely referring to the planned release window of Shibarium, including Kusama's previous statement, where they said, "I'm doing my best not to give dates. But that doesn't mean we won't hit it," seemingly suggesting a Q3 beta launch was still possible.
It is already Q4 of the year and five days into October, so the SHIB holder is most likely confused about the lead developer's previous statement. However, Kusama clarified this in their answer, noting it was Unification that hinted at the possibility of the Shibarium Beta testnet happening at Q3 2022 or later, and not the Shiba Inu development team.
"Actually... we haven't said a thing but our frens said it (PUBLIC BETA) was coming Q3 OR VERY CLOSE THEREAFTER and I think that's a fair BUT WE DONT GIVE DATES. Because #lateapril," Kusama said.
It may be recalled that last month, Unification dropped an update about Shibarium and mentioned its "advisory work with Shibarium continues toward the fourth successful alpha and public testnets." It also noted the launch was "still in plans for the end of the quarter release or sometime shortly thereafter."
For those wondering what the #lateapril was about, Kusama was referring to the initial release window of ShibaSwap, the Shiba Inu's native decentralized exchange (DEX). The project was initially planned to roll out in "late April 2021."
However, the security process took longer than anticipated, which resulted in a July 2021 launch. Currently, ShibaSwap sits on the third spot on the Certik security website, a delayed gratification confirming the short delay was worth the wait.
Before the team rolls out Shibarium, it will release its documentation (white paper). With the public beta testnet most likely just a few days or weeks away, the Shib Army can anticipate that announcement on the launch of documentation could happen anytime now.
Shibarium is just one of the many upcoming projects of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. As of 2:21 a.m. ET on Wednesday, SHIB, the native token of Shiba Inu, was trading up 2.83% at $0.00001151 with a 24-hour volume of $339,321,003, based on the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
