South Korean band BTS, or Bangtan Boys, won an award for social media influence during the ninth “Shorty Awards” held in New York on Sunday.

The seven-member group – made up of Jin, Suga, Rap Monster, J-Hope, Jungkook, Jimin and V – took the world by storm with its latest repackaged album, “Wings: You Never Walk Alone,” which has won numerous national and international laurels for tracks like “Spring Day” and “Not Today.”

“We want to share this honor with fans all around the world,” the band members said in their acceptance video for the award in the field of music.

The band has a massive social media following, which led to it being honored at the Shorty Awards. The awards acknowledge artists for their real-time presence on social media platforms, which include Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and Vine.

The group was the only act from Asia to feature among the nominees and won after leaving behind big international names like Ariana Grande, Drake and Britney Spears.

“Besides their catchy tunes and boyish good looks, BTS has got a strong Instagram presence with their concept photo sessions,” the award’s website explained. “But their Twitter game is even stronger, being named by Forbes as the most retweeted artist on the platform.”

It added: “In November 2016, BTS made it to the top of the Billboard Social 50 list, a first for a KPOP band.”

The group is currently in the midst of its world tour, with performances in South America and the United States earlier in the year. “2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour” is now touring other Asian countries, making BTS “perhaps the most famous KPOP group in the world.”
