KEY POINTS

  • "Sifu's" alternate ending can be unlocked by sparing all five bosses
  • Defeat each boss without executing them during the second phase of each fight
  • A different ending scene will play after beating Yang in the last level

Beneath the visceral and adrenaline-pumping fistfights in “Sifu” is a tragic story of revenge that spans decades of the main character’s life. As players are going around every level and beating every bad guy they come across, they’ll eventually reach the ending, which may not be as satisfying as one would think.

Like many games, there’s more than one ending to “Sifu,” and Sloclap Games took the liberty of hiding it behind the player’s moral compass. Here’s how to get it.

How to Get “Sifu’s” Good Ending

The game made it very clear that the main character is on the path of vengeance after they saw their father get brutally murdered by a former student in the opening sequence. However, murder isn’t the only option that players can take as they progress “Sifu’s” five levels.

Beat every stage as per usual and when it’s time to fight the boss, make sure not to execute them once their Structure bar is full during the second phase of each battle. Instead, keep beating them down without letting their actual health bars reach zero.

Eventually, the boss will drop to their knees and a short cutscene will play, where the main character spares the boss’ life and walks away.

Do this for each of the five bosses and a new ending will play after defeating Yang in the Sanctuary.

“Sifu’s” Endings Explained

The standard ending will result in the death of each boss. After striking Yang with the same move that killed their father, the player character will realize that they continued the cycle of vengeance that started with Yang and their father.

Meanwhile, the mercy ending will result in the player character’s apparent death. Choosing not to execute Yang will result in him grabbing and discarding the player’s talisman, which appears to have a degree of control over the main character’s life. After beating the boss again in another fistfight, the protagonist spares Yang’s life, but he immediately drops to the floor. Then, he wakes up in a cave leading to a cliff overlooking a mountain range.

This ending embodies the concept of “Wude” or “martial morality,” which refers to the harmony between wisdom and emotion. By sparing all of the bosses, the protagonist can break the cycle of vengeance, and the game ends as the main character releases a sigh of relief.
