Sim City to Stage Comeback after 10 year Hiatus
Does anyone remember Sim City? Probably not. Those who might be throwing away hours at games like CityVille, most likely never knew that back in 1989, SimCity was the first game of its kind, and dominated for years. The last title in franchise came out in 2003, but after what seems like forever, Electronic Arts is ready to have SimCity stage a comeback to get some of that social networking gaming pie.
The new SimCity game will debut in 2013, and is expected to be heavy on online multiplayer. Graphics will be improved when compared to the previous game, new gameplay modes which would allow gamers to launch a shuttle into space, or build massive wonders, are just but a few of the things this game will be bringing to the table.
Gamers can have deep multiplayer relationships in SimCity. For example, if your buddy experiences a fire crisis, you can send a fire truck to his city to help him out. Also, if your city develops a lot of bad air like China, Sims in your city and in other cities nearby can develop health problems, so refrain from polluting the air when you have a go at this a game in 2013.
The new game will use the Maxis GlassBox Engine. This engine will include the tools for gamers to use and create their best marvels yet in a game.
From the announcement trailer, SimCity appears as if it could turn out to be a good game - a good game that will take up a lot of gamers’ time. With so many games of the same kind out there, many players might now be tired of city building and doing the same thing over and over again on a daily basis. If EA can pull it off and make SimCity fun to play with regular new contents, SimCity might have a chance to walk with the current kings of city building.
You can pre-order SimCity right now on EA Origins digital distribution website. Give it a go.
