Simon Cowell Says 'I Was Born To Be A Dad;’ Expresses Wish To Have More Kids In His First Interview Since Becoming A Father
Simon Cowell, who welcomed his son, Eric, with girlfriend Lauren Silverman on Feb. 14, revealed in a recent interview that he wanted to have more kids in the future.
Speaking in his first television interview since the birth of his son, Cowell reportedly told Extra: “I was born to be a dad.”
“I wouldn't rule out [more children]. Well, I got Squiddly and Diddly, and I couldn't imagine Squiddly or just Diddly…I had a brother when I was younger, so I kind of think it's cool to have two or three…two,” he added. Squiddly and Diddly are the reality TV star's two Yorkshire Terriers.
Cowell, who was in London shooting for “Britain’s Got Talent" during the time of his son's birth, spoke about making it to New York: “Phone rings at half past five in the morning, 'I’m about to give birth [said Lauren],' so we had to find a flight, which we did, and I got there with two hours to spare."
The former “The X Factor U.S.” judge also spoke about the emotional moment when his son was born, admitting that he cried: “I actually said to Lauren beforehand, 'What if I like the dogs more than him?' -- and she said, 'You're gonna be absolutely fine,' and then literally within seconds of him being born, I got it!”
The 54-year-old star said that the baby and the mother both have been doing well, and remarked: “Lauren's actually been crying more than Eric, so I've had to put one of those pacifiers in her which she likes! Has to be fed every three hours, otherwise she gets a little bit grumpy, and Eric's absolutely fine!”
Cowell, who named his son after his father, plans to bring him to London to meet his mother, Julie, for the first time.
“I think she's told the whole village… she’s really excited.” He continued saying: "I look at him, Eric, and I think of my dad all the time, so it's a really good thing.”
