The season premiere for Season 28 of “The Simpsons” is nearly here and new information about the upcoming season is beginning to roll in. The Simpsons family has already crossed over with “Family Guy” and “Futurama” and now, they’ll have a mini-crossover with “Adventure Time.”
When the new season premieres, fans will get a chance to see the crossover with Cartoon Network’s hit show. While we don’t know everything about the crossover, we do have a few details about what fans can expect to see:
1. The Supervising Director Pitched The Idea
Thank supervising director Mike Anderson for “The Simpsons” and “Adventure Time” crossover. Anderson is a big fan of the Cartoon Network show and pitched the idea. He also got to direct the episode.
2. The Theme Song Will Get “The Simpsons” Treatment
The “Adventure Time” theme song will become “Simpsons Time” and will be sung by the show’s creator, Pendleton Ward.
3. It’s Not The First Time “Adventure Time” Has Appeared On “The Simpsons”
In 2014, during the “Treehouse of Horror” episode, a “Simpsons” version of the “Adventure Time” cast was featured in an ending clip. In the scene Bart played Finn the Human, Lisa was Fionna, Homer as the Ice King, Marge as Princess Bubblegum, Santa's Little Helper as Jake and Maggie as Fionna, but only wearing the hat, not the full outfit.
4. It Will Be A Couch Gag
The crossover won’t last for the entire episode but it will be featured during the opening credits.
Season 28 of “The Simpsons” premieres Sept. 25 on Fox. Guests for the upcoming season include Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Allison Janney, Michael Sheen, Drew Carey and Lizzy Caplan. The series will also celebrate its 600th episode this season with its first hour-long episode.
