Sinead O'Connor to Kim Kardashian: Hollywood's 13 Shortest Marriages

Sinead O'Connor has joined the ranks of Hollywood's most whirlwind marriages and speediest divorces, ending her marriage to fourth husband Barry Herridge, a youth therapist, after just 16 days.

But her marriage, though it was over hours after the wedding and officially done in just 16 days, is only one of many infamously short Hollywood marriages, from the union of Britney Spears and Jason Alexander to that of Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney.

'I can't take anyone's life.'

O'Connor, 45, married the 38-year-old Herridge in Las Vegas on Dec. 8, but managed to live together for just seven days before calling it quits, according to ABC News. O'Connor, however, says the marriage was over only hours after the ceremony.

From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me, the Telegraph quoted her as saying in her blog.

Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behavior of certain people in my husband's life, she said, mentioning intense pressure by his loved ones to split from the singer. And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me [sic] wedding night as I don't drink.

Saying her husband was enormously wounded by both her actions and comments made by loved, she decided she loved him just enough to let him go. I saw his life leave him because of how people close to him reacted. And I can't take anyone's life, she said.

Seeing the marriage was not going to serve him positively, career wise or any other wise, she ended the announcement of her divorce with this message: So... U love someone? Set them free.

Hollywood's Shortest Marriages

Sinead O'Connor has been married three times before, with none of her marriages after the first, to music producer John Reynolds in 1989, lasting more than a few years.

Her second wedding, in 2002, was to music journalist Nick Sommerlad. Her third marriage was to musician Steve Cooney in 2010, and the marriage lasted less than a year.

But Sinead O'Connor, despite having an impressive number of quickie marriages under her wing, isn't the one one with a short engagement and an even shorter period of married bliss.
