Singles Awareness Day In NYC: 5 Anti-Valentine's Day Parties Happening In New York
Singletons in New York City don’t have to spend Valentine’s Day sad and alone, because a slew of places will be celebrating Singles Awareness Day Tuesday. There are anti-Valentine’s Day parties planned all over the Big Apple to cater to people who don’t have significant others. Instead of spending the love-themed holiday without a date, bars and venues throughout NYC will host events that could lead to a blissful hookup on Valentine’s Day.
Check out a few of the anti-Valentine’s Day parties taking place Tuesday below:
So Far Gone: Drake Night Valentine’s Day Edition at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn
If there’s anyone that understands the pain of being lonely on Valentine’s Day, it’s Drake. The emo rapper has a slew of songs pertaining to broken hearts and failed relationships, so why not spend the evening boogying with fellow singles while listening to some of the Champagne Papi’s biggest (and saddest) hits? There will even be a champagne toast celebrating singleness at 1 a.m. while DJ’s Dirty South Joe, Magglezzz and Gun$ Garcia spin HeartDrake tunes all night long. Doors open at 11.
Location: 146 Broadway
Belle Shoals in Brooklyn
Instead of eating your feelings with a carton of ice cream at home, spend Valentine’s Day eating your heart out at Belle Shoals. The restaurant is offering a sweet Lonely Hearts Club Dinner Party, featuring scrumptious items like biscuits with bourbon butter, deviled eggs, jalapeño hush puppies and choices of whiskey cocktails, wine or beer (and a shot) for just $20.
Location: 10 Hope St.
The Late Late in Manhattan
Why harp over a broken heart on Valentine’s Day when you could be chowing down on a burger and a beer for just $10? The restaurant is hosting its first ever +1 Party on Valentine’s Day and will be offering two-for-one drink specials at the bar and $10 dinner specials for loners.
Location: 159 East Houston St.
Tearin’ Up My Heart: A 90s Valentine Dance Party at Rough Trade in Brooklyn
Even the Backstreet Boys and 'NSYNC had their moments of heartache, and they made plenty of songs about their emotional sufferings for everyone to sing along to. There will be tons of people at Rough Trade Tuesday doing just that while your '90s favorites spin all night long. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. EST.
Location: 64 N Ninth St.
Valentine’s Day Trip at Arlene’s Grocery in Manhattan
If the only way to cure Valentine’s Day-sparked depression is by getting a little trippy, then Arlene’s Grocery is the place to be. The bar will host a night of music geared toward psychedelic experiences with a special performance by grunge band Citris. Betamax, Danny Christmas, Amira B and Flapjak will also hit the stage for performances sure to have singletons embracing their lonely place in the world instead of sulking over it. Doors open at 7 p.m. EST.
