‘Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 3’ Movie: Everything We Know About Sequel
Fans of “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” series have long wanted a third movie to be made, but with today (Aug. 6) being the 10th anniversary of the latest film in the franchise, it’s time to really get everyone on the same page about it.
“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” which saw Alexis Bledel (Lena), Blake Lively (Bridget), America Ferrera (Carmen) and Amber Tamblyn (Tibby) reprising their roles as four best friends who shared a pair of magical jeans with each other throughout the summer, came out on Aug. 6, 2008. With the first two movies having such great stories of love, loss and friendship, no one wanted it to end — not the fans, and not the stars.
The four leading ladies, who are all still close friends, have been very vocal about wanting to do a “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3.” Over the past few years, they’ve talked about it on social media and in interviews, but nothing seemed to be moving forward. Now, they’ve finally figured out what they want from the new film and have been actively trying to get it made.
“We just pitched the third movie,” Bledel said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in April. Tamblyn took to Twitter to explain more about what stage they’re in with the film.
“Alexis is right. We’ve been pitching and there is a script,” Tamblyn said. “A good one. It’s up to a studio now to make the film. So far, no luck. So keep your fingers crossed, or, knock down their doors with jeans emojis.”
The movie franchise, which is based on “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” book series by Ann Brashares, kicked off with the release of the first film in June 2005. The flick grossed $39 million domestically, while its sequel grossed $44 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo.
Until the third movie hopefully gets made, rewatch the first two to celebrate today’s big anniversary. Both are available to stream online on Amazon, YouTube, Google Play and more. Plus, the second movie can also be watched on Cinemax.
