An American babysitter living in the U.K. has been jailed for sexually abusing an 18-month-old baby under her care and sending videos of the same to her pedophile boyfriend.
Paige Poole, 29, who has been living in London since 2018, met her boyfriend Ross Kingsland, 44, a married man living in Exeter, England, on an extreme fetish website.
Poole filmed herself while sexually abusing the toddler and sent the videos to Kingsland who encouraged her to perform the acts. The two describe one another as sharing the "same black heart," reported local news outlet Devon Live.
Poole pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offenses, including eleven sexual assaults, conspiracy to assault, engaging in sexual activity with a child and taking and distributing indecent photos of a child. The court sentenced her on Tuesday to 17 years in jail.
Kingsland was sentenced to 15 years in jail after pleading guilty to multiple offenses, including conspiracy to assault, aiding and abetting the sexual abuse of a child.
The court heard that the couple had exchanged messages on WhatsApp, describing the details of the abuse. Poole could be heard laughing out loud while she was abusing the toddler on several occasions. The investigators found hundreds of messages between the couple sharing their desire to have children together in order to abuse them.
"You were both adults who knew what you were doing each and every step of the way. Each chose to plan and enact their deviant desires. This was a true meeting of wicked minds," Judge David Evans said.
The couple also bared plans to rape another girl.
The pedophile couple was brought down last summer, after Kingsland was arrested in July 2020 by an undercover officer. The officer posed as a fellow sex offender and arranged to meet up with Kingsland, who was also convicted in 2012 for exposing himself to two 12-year-old girls, to abuse two children aged 8 and 12. During their correspondence, Kingsland shared a video of a woman abusing a child.
Poole was arrested after she visited Kingsland's house in Exeter while he was in custody. She initially appeared shocked by Kingsland's behavior. However, according to a report by the New York Post, videos of Poole's crimes were found on their phones, indicating that the couple actually shared the same desire.
"Kingsland and Poole are two very dangerous individuals who abused a child and brought misery to families." Si Costin, senior investigating officer, said. "I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the families who have given their statements in person explaining just how this has impacted on them. I really hope that they can start to move forward now that Kingsland and Poole have been sentenced."
