Skype 4.0, VoIP video calling improved
On Tuesday, Skype announced the fourth version of its free messaging client which aims at making the experience both easier and better in quality after a fairly long beta version.
Skype says that the new version 4.0 that brings a refined interface, improved call quality, and full-screen video to the popular voice and has a new built-in Internet bandwidth manager that provides faster data transfers using a microphone or webcam.
Whether it's saying hello to your daughter at college or reading a book to your child while you're away on business, Director of product strategy Mike Bartlett said in a statement Video calling lets you have the conversations that make a difference, and it really feels almost as good as being there.
Skypes also improves its audio quality. The new codec uses less than 50% of bandwidth than in previous versions along with better quality of transmitted vice.
