‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 2 Spoilers: 2014 Season Recasts Benjamin Franklin; What Will Happen When The 2.0 Version Of America’s Founding Father Returns?
Season 2 of the hit Fox series “Sleepy Hollow” will be arriving later this year with new drama, new threats and — a new Benjamin Franklin? That’s right! According to reports, the Founding Father, who made a small appearance in Season 1, has been recast for the sophomore season.
What will Benny boy’s role be in the 2014 series? According to E! News, the 2.0 version of Franklin will appear alongside Ichabod in a flashback from 1775. You know, when times were simpler and less … headless. The blast from the past will reportedly show Franklin’s “scathing sense of humor,” which will surely give fans comic relief from the chilling plot of “Sleepy Hollow.” Seriously, will Ichabod ever escape being buried alive?
The original actor who played Franklin was the journalist Jon Sparks. The Memphis native told Fox News that he was in disbelief when he learned that he landed the role.
"She said they want you for Ben Franklin," he said of his conversation with his agent. "I said, 'I'm sorry? What?' I didn't believe it. She sent me the e-mail. I had to read it over and over. It said, 'Yes, we are hiring Jon to play Ben Franklin.'"
"It's a strange feeling,” Sparks continued. “Because it's something you keep going for all the time, but you're always prepared to not get anything. In fact, usually I forget about the audition because you're probably not going to hear anything again so what a treat it's when the word comes that you booked a role.”
Sparks appeared on “Sleepy Hollow” on Jan. 13, 2014, during episode 13, “Vessel,” of Season 1.
