'Sleepy Hollow’ Season 3 Spoilers: Nikki Reed Cast As Betsy Ross, Ichabod’s Former Lover
Nikki Reed better hold on to her noggin because, according to reports, the “Twilight” star (and wife of "Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder) is headed to the infamous town known for it’s legendary decapitations: Sleepy Hollow.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the exciting news, explaining that Reed has been the latest starlet to join the star-studded cast of “Sleepy Hollow” in Season 3 of the hit Fox drama. But that’s not all we know about the 27-year-old stunner’s participation in the supernatural drama.
It was revealed that the brunette beauty will be taking on the role of Betsy Ross, the historical figure credited for making the first American flag. Reed’s character has also been described as “sexy” with an “unsuspecting physical prowess,” who trades her sewing tools in for spy gear during the wee hours of the night. That’s right, in the “Sleepy Hollow” storyline Ross is a “secret operative within George Washington’s mysterious ring of spies.” Talk about a woman of many talents!
"We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow,” the show’s co-creator Len Wiseman told The Hollywood Reporter. "Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross."
Not only can fans of the Fox series expect Reed to bring some patriotic heat to the Season 3 plot of “Sleepy Hollow,” which according to TVLine, has moved production from Wilmington, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia, but viewers should also anticipate some romantic drama to occur with Betsy’s debut.
Throughout Season 1 and 2 of “Sleepy Hollow,” Tom Mison’s character Ichabod had divulged that Betsy used to be a former lover of his -- you know, before he fell head over heels for the enchantress Katrina (Katia Winter). Could Betsy’s arrival to Sleep Hollow cause trouble between the Cranes?
Fans will find out when “Sleepy Hollow” returns for its third season on Thursday, October 1, on Fox.
