'Snake Burglar' Slithers Into California Salon, Steals $8,000 And Other Products

A man crawled on his stomach like a snake into a California business and stole $8,000 and hundreds of dollars worth of products.
Surveillance video obtained by KNBC showed the suspect, dubbed "snake burglar," slithering through the Rustic Roots salon in Riverside at around 5 a.m. last Friday.
The salon owner, Lori Hajj, said the man entered the salon through a rooftop fire escape and slithered across the room. He stole products worth hundreds of dollars from the shelves and $8,000 in cash from the register and the safe. Hajj named the slithering suspect "snake burglar."
"It just gave me chills up my spine," Hajj told KNBC.
A security guard who installed a new alarm system at the salon said the man was trying to avoid being detected by motion sensors, Associated Press reported. The burglar left a mess on the floor but was able to successfully evade the alarm system during the heist.
"You don't think it's going to happen to you, especially because of how secure the salon is," Hajj told KNBC.
Authorities believe the same person has attempted to steal from several other businesses in the area.
Staff members at the La Sierra Veterinary in Riverside also witnessed a man crawling on the floor but nothing was reportedly stolen from the clinic. Jessica Bryant, who works at the clinic, said the man was there at the clinic for about 10 minutes before setting off sensors. He then fled on a skateboard.
A week before the incident at the clinic, the suspect allegedly tried to rob a pizza parlor. He was caught on the security camera. The store owner believes the suspect has been targeting businesses near Indiana Avenue and Tyler Street in Riverside, the outlet reported.
The Riverside Police have urged the public to contact them if they have any information about the suspect.
In another bizarre incident, a burglar in Ohio was found "sleeping on the job" after breaking into a house in September. The homeowner found him passed out in their guest room. The intruder allegedly ate the family's leftover food, lit a candle in the bathroom and took a pair of underwear on his way out.
