Snapchat Back Online After Telling Thousands Of Users To ‘Hang Tight’ Amid Outage
Snapchat users worldwide began reporting problems with the app by the thousands on Wednesday morning. As of 10:31 a.m. EST, the social media platform said the issue had been resolved.
The outage, which began at around 6:45 am EST, left some users unable to log in and send pictures. Others experienced no issues. During the outage, Downdetector listed receiving over 40,000 reports of difficulties with Snapchat.
On Twitter, Snapchat Support responded to user complaints before 8 a.m. EST by writing, “We’re aware that some Snapchatters are having issues using the app right now – hang tight, we’re looking into it.”
Two hours later the support account said the issue had been "fixed," though some users in the comments still reported having problems with the app.
The issues come after Snapchat tweeted on Aug. 2 that it was aware users were having trouble accessing Snapchat and experiencing crashes when logging in.
The Snapchat snafu also comes after Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram went down simultaneously on Oct. 4 because of a faulty update. The downtime is estimated to have cost Facebook millions, The Daily Mail reports.
