How to Create Your Own Geofilter
To start designing your customized geofilter, go to Settings and tap On-Demand Geofilters.
You can then pick a theme for your filter, which includes Fourth of July, graduation, summer vibes, prom and baby shower. Each theme has multiple options.
Once you pick a theme, you can add text, bitmojis and stickers to your filter. The text’s size and color can be changed to your preference.
Once you’re done designing your filter, there’s a short form that asks you to give some details about your geofilter, like a title or sentence on what it’s about. Click Continue after you’re done.
The next step is to set a time frame for your geofilter, which can be as short as one hour or up to 90 days.
The final stage is setting the location for your geofilter. A map will show up and the screen with a blue shaded box. You can drag the corners of the box to set the location where you want the filter to work. The price for a geofilter starts at $5.99 and the amount increases depending on the size of the location you want to cover. The price gets calculated at the top of the screen.
Once you’re done setting your location hit Continue and review your geofilter’s details. Then hit Submit.

Snapchat will take about one business day to review a geofilter to determine if it meets Snapchat’s Geofilter Guidelines and Community Guidelines. After payment and details of the filter have been confirmed, Team Snapchat will send a push notification when it goes live.
As for how much ground a geofilter can cover, the minimum is 20,000 square feet, which can cover an event or part of your block, a Snapchat representative said. The maximum amount is 50 million square feet, the equivalent of a few city blocks. The price is calculated on the amount of ground covered and for how long. A geofilter applied over a couple of houses in downtown Los Angeles on a Friday night would cost about $5.99.
The feature is currently available in the U.S. and will roll out in other countries by web soon, a Snapchat representative said.
