Is ‘SNL’ Live Tonight? Find Out When Next Hiatus Starts
“Saturday Night Live” is new this week, but fans should enjoy the show while it lasts. It will be the last episode for a couple weeks.
The Nov. 18 episode of “SNL” will be a big one for hip-hop fans. Chance the Rapper will take on hosting duties while Eminem performs.
Chance seems pretty excited to focus on making audiences laugh. Not only did the rapper get to put his acting skills to the test while filming the horror/comedy film “Slice” this year, but he also scored an award show nomination for his work on “SNL” last year. Chance, along with Kenan Thompson, Will Stephen and Eli Brueggemann, wrote the song “Last Christmas,” which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for outstanding original music and lyrics.
The Chicago native took to Instagram shortly after he was announced as host to tell executive producer Lorne Michaels that he had been preparing ideas for skits. “I got sketches ready already. LORNE I WAS BORN TO PERFORM BUT INSTEAD OF HITS IM WRITIN SKITS,” he wrote earlier this month.
Eminem will perform two songs, presumably ones off his new album. The artist, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has not announced the release date for his album yet, but it is rumored to drop on Nov. 17, the day before his “SNL” appearance.
The rapper made his first appearance on the NBC sketch comedy show in 1999, and this year’s performance will mark his seventh time. It isn’t clear which songs he’ll put on his set list, but the singles are always the most likely choice. Eminem’s most recent single is “Walk on Water,” a track that heavily features Beyoncé. Is it too much to hope for a surprise appearance from Queen Bey?
This will be the last “SNL” for a while. The crew will take a break for Thanksgiving next week.
“SNL” airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
