The actress who says, “Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time,” in a recent campaign ad for presidential candidate Ted Cruz attacking opponent Marco Rubio has also acted in softcore porn films, prompting the Cruz campaign to pull the ad, Politico reported.

Actor Amy Lindsay was featured in the ad, a 30-second spot called “Conservatives Anonymous,” mimicking an Alcoholics Anonymous therapy session. The ad was launched Thursday but taken down less than a day later from YouTube, and was taken down from the ad’s companion website later.

A Cruz campaign spokesman said Lindsay responded to an open casting call, and it was not known she had appeared in such productions as “Animal Lust,” “The Erotic Traveler” and “Diary of Seduction.” The ad can still be seen on YouTube on the “CampaignTVAds” channel.

“She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the casting company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad,” Rick Tyler, Cruz's communications director, told Politico. “The campaign is taking the ad down and will replace it with a different commercial."

Lindsay, a self-identified Christian and Republican, told Buzzfeed she has also appeared in nonpornographic films, and she never did hardcore porn. She said on Twitter later she was disappointed the Cruz campaign pulled the ad.

“I have clearly talked to the filmmakers and stuff and just to be clear, I assumed that they knew, but none of the filmmakers or the casting director knew about my complete filmography in the past that you’re talking about, so I was wrong in that statement,” Lindsay said to Buzzfeed.

Cruz also is set to launch ads against opponent Donald Trump ahead of next week’s South Carolina primary, CNN reported. They reportedly will feature Vera Coking, the elderly woman whose Atlantic City home the city tried to seize through eminent domain for a parking lot for a Trump casino.
