Solange-Jay Z Fight: Standard Hotel Fires Employee Who Leaked Elevator Attack Video To TMZ
The Standard Hotel has fired the employee who leaked an elevator surveillance video of the altercation between Solange Knowles and Jay Z to TMZ, media reports said Wednesday, citing a spokesman for the hotel.
Celebrity website TMZ posted the three-minute video on Monday, apparently showing Beyonce’s sister, Solange, assaulting her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in one of the hotel’s elevators, and said it was shot last week. The footage reportedly shows the stars in the outfits they wore to the Met Gala last week.
"The Standard has identified the individual responsible for breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video released by TMZ," Brian Phillips, a spokesman for the hotel, reportedly said. "The Standard has already terminated the individual and will now be pursuing all available civil and criminal remedies."
According to Page Six, the video was sold to TMZ for $250,000 after being shopped around for five days. Shortly after the video was released, the hotel told Associated Press that it was "shocked and disappointed" by the breach of security and said that it would hand over all information to the authorities.
"We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity," the hotel reportedly said, earlier this week.
The reason behind the fight remains unclear as representatives for Solange, Jay Z and Beyonce have not commented on the alleged altercation.
