Solange Knowles Met Gala 2015 Circle Dress: From The Designer To Her Jewels

Beyoncé might be the “Queen,” but her younger sister Solange Knowles knows how to make a statement when it comes to fashion. The 28-year-old singer does not shy away from bold looks, and made an out-of-this world appearance on the red carpet for the 2015 Met Gala Monday night.

The theme of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala was “China: Through the Looking Glass.” Solange didn’t necessarily follow the theme. However, she did arrive wearing a head-turning printed Giles mini-dress that looked as though it was a view of space.

“When @Cartier is your date, and Giles is your dress,” Solange captioned an Instagram photo of her red carpet outfit before hitting the New York City event.

The Giles dress is straight from the runway, featured in the British fashion designer’s Autumn/ Winter 2015 collection. Solange did make some slight changes to the dress though. The initial look featured more fabric for a high-low hemline. The runway model also wore the dress ruffled, instead of Solange’s full circle.

Although she kept her hair in a simple slicked back ponytail, she paired her dress with Christian Louboutin black heels and stunning teardrop earrings by Cartier.

Solange may have turned heads, but her appearance at the 2015 Met Gala was much more low key than last year. Leaving an afterparty in 2014 at the Standard Hotel’s Boom Boom Room, Solange got into a physical altercation with brother-in-law Jay Z in an elevator. They released a joint statement after video footage leaked, calling the incident a “private matter” that the family has already moved on from.
