  • Jadon Sancho is contracted with Dortmund until 2023
  • He has been Solskjaer's top target for over a year now
  • Dortmund have labeled Sancho at a price of around $110 million

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly rejected Manchester United’s opening bid for Jadon Sancho in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Red Devils made a bid of around $95 million for Sancho, which got turned down. Dortmund are not willing to lower the asking price of the player that is around $110 million, reported The Guardian.

Dortmund's asking price is still less than Sancho's current market value, which is around $114 million, according to Transfermarkt.

It was earlier reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued to chase Sancho even after a few Manchester United players urged him to go for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish instead of the Dortmund midfielder. Sancho has been Solskjaer’s top target for over a year now.

Sancho, who is contracted with Dortmund until 2023, is unfazed by these speculations, saying he is cool about these links and what matters is how a player handles the rumors while playing on the pitch.

"I’m cool about it. There’s always going to be speculation, especially when you do well. It’s just how you handle that on the pitch. You’ve got to keep doing what you’re doing, if you keep on doing that then I’m sure that won’t be a problem. The main thing is my football and that’s what I’m focusing on at the moment," Sancho told talkSport in an interview.

Manchester United have agreed to personal terms with Sancho and also the fee demanded by the midfielder’s agents, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has a credible record in transfer markets.

Romano has also revealed that while the Red Devils are "confident," they are also cautious after their failure to land Sancho at Old Trafford last summer.

"Manchester United are working hard on Sancho deal as ‘too long negotiation’ is not the best strategy with BVB asking for €95m #MUFC All people involved in negotiations now ‘confident’, but cautious after what happened a year ago. After personal terms, agents fee agreed too," Romano tweeted.

Last summer, Dortmund had labeled Sancho at around $142 million and the Bundesliga club had refused to lower the fee. It was also previously reported that apart from the player’s asking price, his inability to reach personal terms with Manchester United was also one of the reasons why the transfer did not happen. The Red Devils had failed to reach an agreement with Sancho’s representatives as well during the 2021 summer window, which is not the case anymore this time around.

It is understood that while Dortmund have decided to keep offers for Erling Haaland away this summer, the German outfit will let Sancho leave if his asking price is met ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Sancho, who moved from Manchester City’s youth set-up to Dortmund’s in 2017, has flourished for the Signal Iduna Park side over the last few seasons. Sancho has netted 50 goals and set up 64 more in as many as 137 matches, across all competitions, for Dortmund since his senior debut in 2017.
