  • The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are set to arrive on November 10
  • Following the Xbox Series X pre-order mess, some retailers are informing fans that their pre-orders might be delayed
  • Some retailers have no idea when the next pre-order would go live or how many Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S units they are going to receive

Some of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S pre-orders would be delayed and those who pre-ordered the console received updates that the gaming system might not be available until 2021, according to a new report.

Comicbook shared that some retailers have sent a notice to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S fans who pre-ordered the consoles that they might not be able to fulfill every pre-order at launch. The report cites the UK retailer ShopTo who begun informing its customers about this disappointing news. What makes this more worrying is the fact that the retailer has no idea how much pre-orders could be delayed.

Aside from ShopTo, Amazon also sent emails to Xbox Series X pre-order customers, notifying them that it might not be able to fulfill all Xbox Series X pre-orders on the day of the gaming console’s release. If Amazon, the world’s biggest retailer with vast shipping resources, expecting this issue, it looks like it will be the case for other retailers.

The first round of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S pre-orders went live last September. All big names in the industry, including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, EB Games and Walmart participated. Several fans complained that it was very difficult to get a pre-order at that time. Interestingly, with the latest update, it looks like even if you have secured to pre-order the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S there is a high probability that you might not get the console at launch.

But this issue is not exclusive for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S pre-orders only. Some retailers in the UK earlier advised its PS5 pre-order customers that they might not receive the console until 2021. The mess in pre-ordering the next-generation gaming consoles could be the result of unforeseen demand and Sony and Microsoft have to do something to resolve this issue.

Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are slated to arrive on November 10. The Xbox Series X costs $499 while the Xbox Series S retails at $299.
