KEY POINTS
- Through PlayStation Plus, PS5 owners will immediately have access to a collection of games
- "Fallout 4," "God of War" and "The Last of Us Remastered" are included
- No additional membership fee is required to keep the titles
Sony has announced the 20 titles that will be included in the PlayStation Plus Collection, which will be immediately available upon purchase of the PlayStation 5.
PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription service that gives members two PlayStation 4 games to download every month, access to online multiplayer gaming, PlayStation Store discounts, and 100 GB of cloud storage for game saves and bonus content. And now, it's giving an additional benefit exclusively for PS5 users.
A collection of 20 premiere PlayStation 4 titles will be available to play via backward compatibility on the new console when the PlayStation 5 launches in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on Nov. 12. It will be available to the rest of the world on Nov. 19.
Immediately playable for existing PS Plus subscribers with a PlayStation 5 are the following:
- “Batman: Arkham Knight”
- “Battlefield 1”
- “Bloodborne”
- “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 — Zombies Chronicles Edition”
- “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy”
- “Days Gone”
- “Detroit: Become Human”
- “Fallout 4”
- “Final Fantasy 15 Royal Edition”
- “God of War”
- “Infamous Second Son”
- “Monster Hunter: World”
- “Mortal Kombat X”
- “Persona 5”
- “Ratchet and Clank”
- “Resident Evil 7”
- “The Last Guardian”
- “The Last of Us Remastered”
- “Until Dawn”
- “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End”
The PlayStation Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PlayStation Plus members receive for a single subscription price with no additional membership fee required, per the PlayStation Blog. Once a game is redeemed from the PlayStation Plus Collection, the games can be kept for as long as players are active PlayStation Plus members.
After the announcement of the delayed release for “Destruction AllStars,” it was important for Sony to have a library of games that could be played on their next-gen console for its November launch.
The roster of 20 games will answer that need while also benefiting from the improved loading times, higher frame rates, and overall improvements that the PlayStation 5 has been promising.
They will also come with the new Game Help system, which will see on-screen tips and guidance in completing the games, according to Polygon.
