Sophia Loren Gets Her Own Dolce & Gabbana Lipstick Shade [Video]

Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has come out with a new lipstick shade to honor the 81st birthday of legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren. The lipstick, dubbed Sophia Loren N°1, is a semi-sheer lipstick in Loren’s signature shade of red.

The shade is a sheer cherry red and comes in a gold tube with Loren’s signature. The iconic actress is known for her hourglass figure, brunette bouffant and the cat eyeliner. The new shade was launched on Monday, just a day after her birthday. It retails for $37.

“Sophia Loren N°1 is our way of saying, ‘Thank you, Sophia!’” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said in a press release. Through the lipstick, the designers thanked the actress for beauty, for being a world favorite, for being an icon of the big screen and of Italian beauty. “She has been a constant source of inspiration for us and today we celebrate her with the gift of her very own lipstick,” the designers said.

For the first time, Loren has also starred in the D&G ad campaign. She looks radiant in the new ads for the lipstick shade, reminding everyone of her ageless beauty.

In the pictures from the campaign, Sophia is pictured in a romantic black lace dress and multicolor collar necklace as she poses with her personalized lipstick and a matching gold Dolce & Gabbana compact. Along with the ads, the brand has also released a 40-second behind-the-scenes video.

The newly-released lipstick is available to purchase in-store at high-end retail locations like Saks Fifth Avenue. The octogenarian actress had shared her age defying secrets. She spoke about the fountain of youth that lies within the mind. Loren added that it is in the talents and the creativity that a person brings into their and others lives.

The brunette bombshell said that being a sex symbol is something a person is born with, which will be there even if he or she turns 100 years. But, a person does not become one.

However, Loren is not the only celebrity to have her eponymous lip color. Model Kendall Jenner recently got her own red-orange shade for Estée Lauder, besides Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Lady Gaga also have their shades with Mac Cosmetics.
