The day before the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Variety hosted its first celebratory brunch in honor of this season’s nominated talent at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood.
The inaugural event sponsored by Karma Automotive welcomed a host committee that included "La La Land" director and writer Damien Chazelle, "13th" writer and director Ava DuVernay "Trolls" executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, "Moonlight" producers Jeremy Kleiner and Adele Romanski, "La La Land" producer Marc Platt, and singer and "Trolls" star Justin Timberlake. Other notable talent who were in attendance included "Westworld" star Thandie Newton, "Game Of Thrones" star Sophie Turner and "The Magnificent Seven" star Matt Bomer.
The brunch benefited the Motion Picture Television Fund and celebrated the work of this season’s biggest stars and nominees. During the event, Variety donated $25,000 to the fund, which will go to help support the entertainment community in living and aging well.
