Sophie Wessex Says Her Kids Will 'Have To Work For A Living'
KEY POINTS
- Queen Elizabeth's grandchildren, Louise and James, will likely not become working royals
- The kids are not following their cousins Prince William and Prince Harry's footsteps
- Sophie Wessex says their children are living a normal life
Sophie Wessex, the wife of the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Edward, revealed that their children, James, Viscount Severn, and Lady Louise Windsor, may have to work for a living in the future.
It is worth noting that the son and daughter of the royal couple do carry grand titles. However, the Countess of Wessex’s revelation showed that the kids would have to carve their own path in the future, People reported.
“We try to bring them up with the understanding that they are very likely to have to work for a living. Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but it’s highly unlikely,” Sophie told The Sunday Times.
Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren, James and Louise, therefore, will not take the same paths as their cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry, who are called working royals. The 35-year-old Duke of Sussex, however, vacated the post earlier this year.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their senior roles in January, they also announced that they will be leaving their HRH titles behind as well. However, they may still be referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Although Sophie and Prince Edward carry out royal duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth, Louise and James lead a relatively normal life. The 55-year-old shared that their children go to regular schools, and just like regular kids, they also attend parties and go to sleepovers.
“I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are. When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother,” Sophie added.
The Countess of Wessex also opened up about Markle’s addition to the royal family after the former “Suits” star tied the knot with Prince Harry in May 2018.
“We all try to help any new member of the family,” Sophie explained.
The mom of two lives near Frogmore Cottage, Markle and Prince Harry’s official residence in the U.K. When asked about what she can say about the Sussexes, who relocated to Los Angeles, California, Sophie only wishes them happiness.
