Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward meet the president of Ireland and his wife.

Express shared a photo of the Countess of Wessex in a blue dress with Prince Edward during their meeting with Michael D Higgins and his wife, Sabine. Sophie matched her outfit with a bracelet, diamond earrings and beige shoes. She accessorized a small grey handbag. On the other hand, Prince Edward donned a smart and red tie.

Prince Edward and Sophie were introduced to the president's pooch brood and the latter have immediately taken a particular liking to it. In fact, Sophie became very animated after meeting the dog.

The said visit is part of the royals' two-day Ireland tour. The British royal couple is also set to meet Robin Barnett, Her Majesty's Ambassador to Ireland for lunch. After that, Prince Edward and Sophie will enjoy a lavish dinner courtesy of the Tennis & Rackets Association in Dublin tomorrow.

In related news, the Count and Countess of Wessex joined the royal family for the RAF celebration in July. In a clip, everyone was standing quietly waiting for the national anthem to begin. Suddenly, Sophie jumped as she was startled by a gun salute. She quickly regained her composure, smiled and stood straight for the "God Save the Queen" opening bars.

Sophie was not the only one who was caught by surprise with the gun salute. In fact, even the BBC viewers heard someone shout "[expletive] hell" during its live coverage.

"Special mention to the bloke next to a camera on TV who shouted '[expletive] hell' when the RAF on parade fired their blanks, following it up with '[expletive], sorry, sorry!'. Best of British," Jake Bishop wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, there are reports claiming that Prince Edward wants to raise his and Sophie's profile due to Meghan Markle. According to Richard Kay and Geoffrey Levy of Daily Mail, there are theories suggesting that the "Earl of Wessex fears he and his wife Sophie are in danger of being eclipsed from the excitement of the royal show. He wants to raise their profile."

Sophie has been the Queen's favorite family companion for years. However, this has reportedly changed when the former "Suits" star joined the royal family. Queen Elizabeth II has developed the same fondness for the Duchess of Sussex.
