‘Speechless’: JJ Quits Lafayette High In Season 2, Episode 13 Sneak Peek
JJ makes a bold decision in this week’s episode of “Speechless.”
In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 13 of the ABC comedy, JJ (Micah Fowler) tells Maya (Minnie Driver) and Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) that he’s no longer returning to Lafayette High School.
“I’m done there. I can’t face them. I’m not going back,” JJ says after Maya tells him that Lafayette’s faculty stands by their assessment that he’s not ready yet to graduate from high school.
JJ feels bad about the school’s decision, and Kenneth’s (Cedric Yarbrough) arrival at their house doesn’t help to relieve his heavy heart.
“Alright, buddy. Let’s get you to school. You don’t wanna be late,” says an extra cheerful Kenneth as he shows off his new wrist watch. “I know it’s an extravagance but as the guy at the watch store said, ‘Are you sure you can afford this?’”
When Kenneth finally notices that no one is laughing at his gags, Maya tells him, “Lafayette is not gonna let JJ graduate this year. He has decided not to go back. You may or may not have a job.”
Shocked by the news, Kenneth quickly asks if anyone from them would like to buy his new watch.
Following JJ’s decision to quit Lafayette, Maya launches her own school out of the DiMeo home. According to the synopsis for the episode, Maya’s program becomes a true DiMeo affair when Ray (Mason Cook) and Dylan (Kyla Kenedy) enroll and Jimmy joins the faculty.
Elsewhere in the episode, Kenneth sets out to prove to his ex-wife that he’s living a successful life.
It’s unclear who’s playing Kenneth’s former wife, but since “Castle” alum Tamala Jones is listed as a guest star in the episode, it’s possible that the actress is the one portraying the new character. Jones also uploaded a Boomerang video with Yarbrough on Instagram last month. “I can cross this off my bucket list @cedricyarbrough is so amazing !!! I finally got my wish to work with him #ABCTV #Speechless #woohoo,” the 43-year-old actress captioned the clip.
“Speechless” Season 2, episode 13, titled “D-I-- DIMEO A-C--ACADEMY,” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
