'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Star Jamie Foxx On Buffalo Shooting: 'Such A Torturous Journey'
Jamie Foxx shared a heartfelt post following the Buffalo shooting incident that took place in New York over the weekend.
The 54-year-old actor shared a post featuring photos of the victims who lost their lives at Tops Friendly Markets after a suspected 18-year-old shot 13 people; the victims included 11 Black people.
In the photo, there was a collage of three Black people and on the top, the text reads, "Buffalo supermarket shooting victims included food pantry head, ex-fire chief's mom." At the bottom, there was a website address, "Read more: www.Balleralert.com."
The actor wrote in the caption of the post how he felt about the incident and questioned why people are angry with Black people, noting how difficult the journey is being born as a Black person.
"So many emotions are running through me right now… sadness… Hurtful… and angry AF!!!" Foxx captioned the post. "Cannot understand why the color of our skin makes people so angry… Who knew they just being born black would be such a torturous journey."
"Our condolences go out to the victims in Buffalo," he concluded. "And I just wonder how many more times you gonna have to say this."
Many celebs took to the comments section to share their reactions.
The "Full Send Podcast" host Bob Menery wrote, "Absolutely horrific. Can’t imagine what these families are going through. Hearts out to so many. Sad sad day is an understatement."
Actress Natalie Friedman commented, "Heartbreaking is an understatement _ my deepest condolences to the families… so sad and can’t imagine their grief."
Director Deon Taylor wrote, "Really killed the community !! He knew exactly what he was doing !! They said that store was the heart of the city —- pure evil and racism at its finest !!"
Apart from Foxx, Justin Bieber also addressed the tragic incident. The singer posted a video on Instagram ahead of his performance at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center, a few hours after the incident took place on the same day.
"You guys probably heard what happened, pretty horrible stuff," Bieber said in the video. "But I’m looking forward to tonight, looking forward to getting on stage and doing what we do best, having a good time and bringing joy to the city, much needed."
Payton Gendron has been accused of storming the market located in Buffalo located in the state of New York.
