‘Splatoon 2’ Switch Returning Weapons List, New Spawn Point Revealed
Splatoon 2 is just a few months away from its Nintendo Switch release, so the fine folks at the Squid Research Lab have offered some details about returning weapons and spawn points. New blog posts and tweets detail the findings.
On the subject of weapons, it’s officially confirmed that at least five familiar ink-splatting mechanisms will come to the new game. Here’s the list as we know it today.
- Splattershot : As the tried-and-true weapon choice for newbies and experts alike, this gun reportedly won’t be changing much from its original Splatoon incarnation. That means players should steer clear of any Chargers or Sloshers.
- Splat Charger : It’s got a slight design change, but we suspect it will operate on similar ideas. Watch out for Sloshers and pick off Rollers from high vantage points.
- Slosher : This one is a crowd pleaser that shoots large quantities of ink at middle range. With a little help from its Burst Bomb, you can easily get the drop on Chargers and Rollers.
- Splatling : The blog post specifically mentions the Heavy Splatling, and this is a ranged weapon with a slow charge speed and moderate mobility. It’s powerful, but don’t get caught near opponents with much larger blast capabilities.
- Splat Roller : Splat Rollers have lots of obvious weaknesses, but they’re the linchpins of most good teams. If you’re not great at shooters, you can use these to lay down a strong starting base while taking down others in your path.

A Splatoon 2 demo period is set to run March 24 - 26 during specific time windows. We suspect these announced weapons may play some role in the festivities.
As for the spawn point, you can see it in the tweet below. The new design looks fairly similar to the old circular pad, but this time there’s an arrow icon that more clearly labels its purpose. This unique quality should also make the spawn easier to spot from a distance.
Splatoon 2 comes to Nintendo Switch this summer.
