To the surprise of many fans of role-playing games (RPGs), the English version of mobile RPG “Chaos Rings 3” is now available in the App Store and Google Play, courtesy of game publisher Square Enix. The game was developed by Media.Vision and is available for download for $19.99, with the benefit of adding no in-app purchases (IAPs), and the ability to play the game anywhere with no Internet.

Despite being called “Chaos Rings 3,” Siliconera notes that this is the fourth game in the franchise. That's because the second game in the series, “Chaos Rings Omega,” was a prequel to the first “Chaos Rings” game. Like the other games in the series, this installation will also be episodic and have an old-school turn-based combat system.

The game follows a party of adventurers who are heading to Neo Pascal, a gateway to the heavenly place known as Marble Blue. Nasca's goal is to solve a mystery involving the place, while Leary hopes to find her kidnapped father.

Of course, this being a mobile RPG, players can expect plenty of places to explore and a number of secret treasures and loot to be found as they venture to Neo Pascal. Since the game is episodic, future episodes will be released soon but will be free to those who purchased the game, so fans won’t have to worry about spending extra money.

A lot of mobile players might be shocked at the game’s $19.99 price tag, but Touch Arcade has said that the game is worth it. Aside from the RPG having no IAPs to hold it back, the game’s visuals are gorgeous and the English version is actually cheaper than the original Japanese version, which is around 2,800 yen (roughly $23).

Despite the price tag, it’s safe to assume that “Chaos Rings 3” will win over fans, since the previous games have proven to be a popular property for Square Enix. Mobile RPG fans can download the game now for their Apple iOS and Google Android devices.
