  • Rendell Russell attacked his ex-girlfriend's new lover at her house early Tuesday morning
  • The victim was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries
  • Russell was arrested on counts of felony murder and aggravated assault

A man in Lithia Springs, Georgia, was charged with murder Tuesday after stabbing the man he found in bed with his ex-girlfriend. The charges allege that Rendell Russell came to the house of Sierra Forest in the early morning, armed with a knife.

When Russell, 28, found another man "sleeping in bed with" Forest, he attacked him, investigators said. Forest was apparently awake during the incident. The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive.

Warrants for Russell’s arrest were issued just hours later. He was jailed by Tuesday afternoon on counts of felony murder and aggravated assault.

Another resident of the apartment complex, Jennifer Walker, spoke to WAGA-TV. She said that she had only lived there for two years, and while the neighborhood had its issues, there hadn’t been anything like this.

“It's heartbreaking. Just the thought of it. You never know, you have to pray for them,” Walker said. “It's awful, that is awful, awful, awful and you know with so much going on right now that's the last thing you would think would happen.”

While less common than shootings, stabbings make the headlines quite often. On Sunday a woman in Chicago stabbed a store employee 27 times for requesting that she wear a mask. France has also seen a rash of knife attacks both by Islamic terrorists and against Muslims in retaliation.
