Stacey Irvine Collapses: Is Chicken Nuggets 'Eating Disorder' to Blame?
While other teenage girls try to stay far away from the notoriously sodium ridden, grease soaked chicken nuggets meal, Stacey Irvine is not afraid to eat fries and nuggets, every day. She lives off them and will die for them, literally.
The 17 year old recently collapsed at work and was rushed to the hospital because she was struggling to breathe. The British teen hasn't eaten much else since she was 2 years old and her nugget 'eating disorder' is catching up to her.
Medics were forced to inject Irvine with an urgent course of vitamins to boost up her system, since she barely eats any fruits and vegetables because of her fast food addiction. Doctors found that Irvine is now anemic and has swollen veins on her tongue. She returned home on Wednesday, but was ordered to continue taking vitamins.
Although Irvine does not appear overweight, the calories she consumes, more than 500 calories per six-piece nuggets and fries meal (at the very least) could have grave consequences for her heart as she grows older.
Reports are that Irvine's dangerous relationship with McNuggets and fries began when she was two and that she has not turned back since.
I first tasted chicken nuggets when my mum took me to McDonald's when I was two, Irvine told The Sun. I loved them so much they were all I would eat. I just couldn't face even trying other foods. Mom gave up giving me anything else years ago.
Since then, Irvine has incorporated the nuggets into her daily schedule, sharing them with her boyfriend, collecting piles of free toys that come with her meals, and staving off her mother's attempts to wean her off the fried goods.
According to The Sun, her mother, Evonne, 39, has tried to take her daughter to therapy, and has even threatened to starve her until she gave up the nuggets and fries. Irvine has only varied her diet by occasionally nibbling on some toast for breakfast, crisps, as well as KFC and supermarket brand nugget, reported The Daily Mail.
I'm at my wit's end. I'm praying she can be helped before it's too late, she said. It breaks my heart to see her eating those damned nuggets. She's been told in no uncertain terms that she'll die if she carries on like this. But she says she can't eat anything else.
