'Star Wars' Canon Sneaked In A Way To Bring Back Darth Vader
The “Star Wars” universe has introduced many new characters in films, TV shows and comics. But there is one character that continues to dominate the minds of the fans: Darth Vader. Now, the franchise has opened the door for the character’s return by adding an interesting chapter in the Sith Lord’s history.
Warning! The following article contains spoilers from the ongoing “ Darth Vader” comic series.
After turning the “Star Wars Expanded Universe” into non-canon and calling it “Legends,” Disney and Lucasfilm began building a new set of stories, giving a new history to all the major characters. One such history-building exercise is about Darth Vader. There is an ongoing comic series about the Sith Lord with tales about the time when he was serving the Emperor.
Darth Vader did return in the original trilogy, but that was only as the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen). What remained of the Sith Lord died with that half-human body. However, according to a report by Screen Rant, the comic series has found a way to bring the character back in the flesh.
The “Darth Vader” comic series tells the story of an ancient Sith known as Lord Momin, a dangerous man who experimented with ways to become immortal. His methods were so extreme that his teachings were wiped out by both the Jedi and the Sith. Years after his death, Lord Momin found a way to come back, with his spirit possessing his old helmet.
Fans who have watched the spin-off film “Rogue One” will remember Darth Vader’s castle. The comics reveal that there is more to this building than meets the eye. The design of this castle was from Lord Momin, and it’s apparently a key to the Dark Side of the Force, essentially the path to immortality.
In the comics, Lord Momin used this key to return from the dead to the land of the living by betraying Darth Vader, only to be defeated and get killed. So, the story has established that Vader had the means to become immortal, and Momin’s return proves that it works.
Does that mean that Darth Vader will return sometime in the future? The new “Star Wars” trilogy that is mostly focussed on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) did tease the mangled remains of the Sith Lord’s helmet. Kylo Ren speaks to this helmet often. It remains to be seen if the helmet will answer back in “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
There are some challenges in making the next film, especially since the cast members will have to carry on without the late Carrie Fisher, who played Leia Organa. The filmmakers have decided to include Leia in the next film by using previously unreleased footage from “The Force Awakens,” Variety reports. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd, who plays Lieutenant Connix, said that the film will be “magical.”
