'Star Wars: Episode 9' Theory: Ending Scene And Future Villains
The ending of “Star Wars: Episode 9” will be significant for many reasons. The last scene will not only bring the film to a close, but it will also end the sequel trilogy and connect to all the nine movies. A new theory explores what that last scene could be.
When “Star Wars” creator George Lucas first thought about making his films, he had plans to connect all the movies as stories from The Journal of Whills. The droid R2-D2, whose memory was never wiped, was supposed to chronicle all the stories and show it to the Ancient Order of the Whills, who were supposed to record the history of the galaxy. Although this didn’t make it to the films, it may now be used in the upcoming JJ Abrams film.
According to a theory by Screen Rant, Abrams could connect all the nine films by ending his movie with a scene of R2-D2 showing the history of the galaxy to a Keeper of the Whills. The fans will note that the first film of the franchise started with the words “A long time ago…” and “Star Wars: Episode 9” can explain how these stories are actually records of history.
It remains to be seen how Abrams plans to end the film with a connection to all the other movies. Kevin Smith, who recently got a chance to visit the set of the upcoming movies, told IGN that according to the crewmembers the ending scene will “melt your mind.”
The Abrams’ movie will also have to set the stage for the future movies of the franchise. According to Screen Rant, the canon novels are already teasing some details about what to expect in the future movies, especially when it comes to the villains.
The sequel trilogy has already established the significance of the Unknown Regions. This is the part of the galaxy where the remnant forces of the fallen Empire regrouped to form the First Order in secret. However, this region is also home to the hostile alien race known as the Grysk, who could be the villains going forward.
“Star Wars: Episode 9” is expected to end with an upbeat note with the defeat of the First Order and possibly the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid). It remains to be seen if the movie will also introduce the new villainous faction.
