'Star Wars: Episode 9' Theory: How The Emperor Plans To Return
The first trailer of “Star Wars: Episode 9” teased the return of the Emperor. The canon comics and novels of the franchise have also been revealing bits and pieces of Palpatine’s contingency plans, which include the building of a power base in the Unknown Regions. The character made preparations to come back after his death.
According to the new novels, Palpatine appears to have started preparing for his possible death even before he became the Emperor, Screen Rant reported. He appears to have foreseen the possibility that he will be killed, and he made preparations to come back after his death with a force strong enough to take over the galaxy once again.
The first thing that the Emperor planned to do was Operation Cinder. This operation made the remnant forces of the Empire unleash a genocidal retribution across the galaxy that was intended to cripple the New Republic and also reduce their military power.
Among the people that may have lost their homes because of the war maybe Ewoks of Endor. According to a theory by Comic Book Resources, the destruction of the Death Star may have resulted in devastating impact on the planet and its inhabitants.
Palpatine planned the final battle between the remnant forces of the Empire and the Rebellion over the planet Jakku. This planet was rigged to be destroyed, and his forces were supposed to escape and regroup in the Unknown Regions. This may the place from which the Emperor will return in “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
Despite all the planning, things didn’t go as planned during the battle over Jakku. The planet was supposed to be destroyed, taking a large number of the Rebellion’s force with it, but that was prevented during the battle. The fighting also went on longer than expected, which left fewer number of the Empire’s ships to escape to the Unknown Regions.
While the return of the Emperor has been confirmed in “Star Wars: Episode 9,” the fans may have to wait for a while to see the character. The film will have to first resolve the conflict between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and according to Making Star Wars the fight between these two will be a visual spectacle.
