‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Leaked Footage From Set Is Fake [VIDEO]
A new YouTube video claiming to be leaked footage from the “Star War: Episode VII” film set is phony but still wowing fans online.
The video was “leaked” by German YouTube user Frank Wunderlich from the set of the new “Star Wars” movie showing Imperial Forces taking over Germany's Frankfurt Airport.
"Looks like the Story of Star Wars plays on Earth too in the next Episode," Wunderlich wrote with the post. "I took these pictures on my Flight back from the States to Germany at the Frankfurt Airport."
The video shows the German airport as the “Imperial Starport Frankfurt” with an AT-AT walker moving down the runway and an Imperial Destroyer in the background.
The footage appears real but has been confirmed as fake by Mashable. However, Wunderlich’s video did fool a few “Star Wars” fans who believed they were watching video leaked from the filmset.
Others were not impressed.
YouTube commenter izarkstan r wrote: “you can see that the death star is fake. this is one of the best fakes i've seen though.”
In less than five days days, the video garnered more than 1.3 million views on YouTube.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” directed by J.J. Abrams began filming in May, using Abu Dhabi over Tunisia as a stand-in for Tatooine.
The film is set to be released in December 2015, according to Disney which also announced Harrison Ford’s injury would not halt the film’s release.
