‘Star Wars’ Rose Tico TV Series Gets Pitched By ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Director
The character of Rose Tico has received a lot of attention on social media after her limited appearance in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Many fans have defended the character, arguing over how little screen time she has in the film. Director John M. Chu happens to agree with this statement, hoping to give more of a spotlight for her.
The “Crazy Rich Asians” director went on Twitter to pitch an idea to Disney Plus for a TV series revolving around Kelly Marie Tran’s character.
He also used the hashtag #RoseTicoDeservedBetter, which went viral on Twitter and sparked a movement with fans of the beloved character.
Only time will tell if Disney jumps on board with this idea with the amount of attention this is getting. This just proves that there is a lot of love for Rose in the franchise, and audiences felt that they didn’t get to see enough of her in “Rise of Skywalker” after her debut in “The Last Jedi.” Perhaps Disney Plus could be the perfect medium to expand on her story. The platform has already been successful with original Star Wars content with “The Mandalorian” and is already in the process of other series' based on Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as “Rogue One” character Cassian Andor.
Only the novel “Cobalt Squadron” offered more of Rose’s back-story about how she and her sister Paige joined the Resistance. The character has also appeared in various comic books that took place before and during the films.
